Wednesday, May 11:  We arrived at our good friends Ken and Marion Hanscom just outside of Elkins, WV.  Ken and Marion used to live in MA and I met Ken while working at Quantum in Shrewsbury.  They have been in WV for about 14 years and lucky for us we have maintained our friendship over the years.  We had a great dinner catching up on events of our lives and issues of the day.
Thursday, May 12: The next day, they took us on a day trip to the Green Bank Radio telescope.  It is an awesome structure up close and I plan on using it in my next Statics class when we talk about trusses.  We are in the eastern part of West Virginia and the hills are beautiful, similar to Vermont.

Driving down the road May 13 on Route 19 in WV on our way to VA
Stopped off at Tamarack which is a visitor center in WV that showcases the home grown artistic works of the WV residents
Elaine thought this was pretty funnt T shirt
 Interesting sculture outside at Tamarack

  2. Awesome, brings back great vacation memories, do they still have the cell phone signal free zone around the telescopes? Paul Stabile SR.
