Sat May 14, Onward to Asheville, NC

Sat May 14, Onward to Asheville, NC.
Headed out mid morning from Hungry Mother.  Had a nice chat with the campers next door who had an interesting cat cage setup.  They were heading back to Rhode Island after the winter in FL
It did not take to long to get to Asheville.  Nice ride.  Rolling hills of VA turned into the mountains of Asheville.  We parked at the visitor center and hopped ontot the trolley tour bus for a good orientation of downtown Asheville.  Asheville reminds me of a mix between Worcester(old industrial) and Williamsburg, Brooklyn(artsy).  Very eclectic(Elaine).
Here is an indoor view of a restored building, Groove Arcade, that functions as a arts and crafts mall.

We ended the day at Lake Powhatan State park in a very nice level site.  Here is a view of the small Lake Powhatan.

  1. Which I'd known you were going through Asheville! I would have had you look up my folks... Asheville is a very interesting mash-up of youthful (craft beers, BBQ, music scene) and experienced (antiques, bookstores). Glad you got to spend some time there!
